Bachelor Tax

Missouri established a tax on bachelors in 1820. Single men between the ages of 21 and 50 had to hand over $1 each year to the state government or get married.

It would be terrific if that idea could be expanded upon, particularly here in the UK. Each bachelor could donate £1.00 to a married man, thus helping to relieve the burden due to the excesses of their wives who hold a steady grip on a credit card. And it would certainly see a decrease to the numbers of bacardi breezers, big macs and Burberry baseball caps which are purchased by the 18-25 year olds. That would certainly make the world a better place!
